Recently Congress passed House Bill 496 "Stop the Bleed" All the staff have been trained on knowing how to stop the bleeding in the event of an emergency. In high school the students are also taught on how to stop the bleed. This is an requirement and goes on their transcript. Just like "Hands on CPR" The high school students were taught how to do do CPR.
The Emergency kits include Tourniquet, scissors, dressing, gloves and a bag to hold the items in. These bags will be placed in each classroom in the event of an emergency that requires the use of a tourniquet. When there is an emergency all the classroom doors are locked and no one can come. You would not have time to leave your classroom to go find a Tourniquet because it takes less than 3 minutes for someone to bleed out and die. If saving the life of someone who is bleeding can be prevented by using a tourniquet, then we have achieved our goal in helping our students and staff.
