My students love taking macro photographs. Macro photography is a unique form of photography that involves photographing small objects to make them look life-sized or larger in the photo.
Help me give my students new specialty camera lenses to create beautiful photos with macro photography. They need macro lenses to be able to take super close up pictures of objects and textures.
The standard lenses on our school cameras have a built-in macro mode that helps users capture significantly closer shots of an object from an observable distance. Of course this has its limitations, because these lenses often have trouble focusing at closer distances. To achieve true macro shots, my students will need a dedicated macro lens.
Adding a collection of macro lenses to our high school's photography program to be shared amongst 130 students would greatly benefit the them and allow them to expand their creativity. My AP photography students can also use these lenses to create a body of work to submit for their AP 2D Art + Design portfolio exam.
This equipment will be used every week in school. Through photography, students are able to realize the beauty of even the simplest thing around such as a simple leaf hanging in a still branch of an old tree or a butterfly enjoying its newly harvested nectar in a flower resting on a fertile land. Our wish is a self-sustaining investment in the photography program that will affect students for years to come.
Thank you for helping close the technological gap that exists in many low-income schools. Our students will have a better life because of the work you do and the opportunities you create for them to interact with many types of technology.
