In my diverse classroom, about 25% of my middle school students need to be in motion to focus. Whether that means they are tapping their feet, drumming their pencils, dancing around, or wandering the room, they need to be active to engage in learning.
Since these movements can be distracting to the student, as well as those around them, I am hoping to support the need for active learning while making the movement as inconspicuous as possible! These rocking chairs and standing desks would help my struggling learners more than your average stationary desk and chair combination because the students would be able to subtly stay in motion without causing an instructional disruption.
As one of my students has stated, "Ms. Corrado, I can't help it, I was born to move!"
