The most famous of Mendel's work that we study in 7th grade is comparing how genetics move from the parent generation to the generations that follow thereafter. This is something that we've only been able to see in the textbook. However, this lab would give students a chance to be a scientist and do exactly what Mendel did. Science is very hard for some students to grasp, without a hands-on experience. This activity will prove to students that we are all scientists and can contribute to the vast knowledge of our natural world. We'll grow multiple generations of plants. This will allow my students to actually see what Mendel saw! Science in action!
