These requested books will make a huge difference to my students! Requested titles include Dear Martin, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Gone Girl, One of Us Is Lying, Dark Titles, and Long Way Down.
Every semester my students do an independent reading projects and a lot of my students really struggling finding something they like. All of these books have been consistently checked out at our school library and are in high demand at the local library. To have them in my class will allow students accessed to good and diverse literature that will catch AND HOLD their interest.
Having 15 copies of Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds will allow me to do a Project-Based Creative Writing Assignment, in which students will write parodies of the book through the perspective of their personal life experience.
I am confident this unit will be spark students interest not just in reading but creative writing!
