These tools and games will help my elementary age special education students understand basic math skills through fun, hands-on activities while also learning real world skills in counting and using money. Many special education students lack confidence in their abilities due to past failures and are inhibited by the stress of learning and fear of failure. By making learning fun and engaging with the help of these items, we can lower the “affective filter” of tension and allow learning and discovery to happen more spontaneously, while at the same time increasing student confidence level as well as love of learning!
