The use of recycled materials has been a large component of our curriculum. As much as we enjoy being able to create with these more "free" materials, our curriculum needs more support in other materials that are available to our young artists. I would encourage my students to create a variety of art using these pens. I'm envisioning studying jewelry making and how artists can create wearable art. We can also create bowls, vessels, and other practical containers. Not to mention, we can create any animal, person, and item from nature in colorful ways using the pens. I have also researched modern artists who are using these pens as part of their paintings and drawings. I also would like to be able to offer the pens as a means to create materials they would use on other sculptures in class, for instance being able to create wheels for cars and robots.
I would love to see the creativity and inventiveness that can be explored using the 3D Doodler pen in both a sculptural atmosphere as well as a drawing and painting atmosphere as well. I truly can see this material being used in a variety of ways in our room. I really believe all my students will benefit from the use of these 3D pens from 6th grade through 8th grade.
