My students are often engaged in a variety of hands-on activities throughout the day, but this opportunity is going to be so much more. This is an investment in a high school student that will give them skills and knowledge that will be crucial to their future. This is a chance to watch a young student gain confidence, learn social skills, learn transitional skills, learn math, learn reading, learn to be independent, and become an entrepreneur as they are able to take ownership into this student run business!
My students work hard throughout the school year to not only meet their academic goals, but to learn skills that will help them as they transition out of high school. Having a job is a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Our students are able to go out into the community and work in real work settings, learning and improving job skills. Having this chance to have a working business in the walls of our school, especially during this time of a pandemic, will give our students these opportunities on a daily basis. The skills the students learn will be skills that they will take with them for the rest of their lives!
