My students are at home glued to their screens, they complain of headaches and boredom. They tell me they hate learning by distance over Zooms or Meets.
I've been striving to change up this distance environment and engage kiddos with safe, home appropriate, sibling welcome Biological lab activities. To this end, I have been raiding my lab and home to send each student a lab kit each week. Labs include activities like Giant Bubble Cell Membranes, Clay Long Bones, Orbeez Cell Size Calculations, DIY Edible Water Bottles, Dragon Breeding, Resin Mitosis, and Candy Hematocrits. These labs involve simple ingredients like corn starch, cream of tartar, rubbing alcohol, balloons, and baggies and vials to package ingredients in.
I want to keep doing this, but paying for it is becoming an issue and I'm nearly out of supplies.
