The microphones, recorder, and headphones will allow students to create collaborative Podcasts that share stories of personal experiences, history, reflections on culture, news, and life as a teen in New York City. My classroom is unique in that my students are learning English for the first time. Podcasting will allow them to learn English by activating their active listening skills, storytelling strategies, and the dynamics of speaking. Every item that is placed in our class library is treated with love and care, and students are thankful for the opportunities to practice using technology in a way to improve their English skills. The microphones, recorder, and headphones will be used during classroom lessons to create podcast content that explores life from the perspective of teenagers new to this country. The technology items chosen will enhance our learning environment by helping students capture heartfelt original stories, interact with each other, the world around them, and developing life-long skills to become productive positive citizens.
