I am inspired by teachers who use "Morning Tubs" to begin their day, as an alternative to morning worksheets. Students are excited to come in and begin their day knowing what awaits them. They focus right away on their activity and are immersed in learning. They also have the opportunity to work cooperatively and practice their social skills. Each table will have a various Morning Tub. Children will work on the activity together. These tubs will be will be rotated every few days. These will be open ended activities allowing the children to be in charge of how they complete the activity. The children will collaborate with each and will gain confidence as they will take ownership of their learning.
Kindergarten students learn best with hands on manipulatives and materials, which not only deepen and enrich learning, but also provide valuable fine motor skill development.
I am excited to use these math and literacy materials in Morning Tubs. As I say "Good Morning" to my students, I want them to know it's going to be a Good Morning of FUN!
