Aa a Title 1 school, iPad devices are provided as a wonderful learning tool to each student. Accessible headphones to facilitate engagement and interactive learning would brilliantly increase the technology's usefulness to each student. Many of my students reside in a low-income, single-parent home or are in the care of a nonparent guardian, with multiple children in the home. As a first-year public school teacher with limited classroom tools, I would like to provide this resource to my 14 students without placing the burden of purchase onto the families.
A quiet space, free of the noise of neighbors can positively and monumentally impact the potential for a child's learning, retention, and motivation. Many of the students in my classroom are EC (Exceptional Children). Children who are easily stimulated and affected by their surroundings would largely benefit from having regular access to headphones. I am passionate about offering them every opportunity available to help them become successful readers and learners in the classroom today, so that they may become wildly successful in each of their futures and within their communities.
