First of all, my classroom LOVES books! They love a good, detailed chapter, they love a picture book that makes them laugh, they love graphic novels that tell a story with pictures and words, and they love learning about social emotional skills through books. My classroom library does not have many books for my 3rd graders to choose from because I am just recently back to teaching. I have been teaching for 20 years, but I took time off to be home with my own children. I shared my enormous library with other teachers and friends so they could enjoy the books while I was at home. Now that I am back, teaching my dream class of 3rd graders, I would love to update my library to give them the books they are dying to read. Some of these books will be ones that they can borrow, read at their desks or another cozy spot, or take home to enjoy and bring back. Other books on my list will stay in my own class library to teach about important social skills (anger, anxiety, making the right choices...). I am so excited to have a chance to build up this library - my 3rd graders deserve it!
