In my kindergarten classroom, we use art as both a tool for learning and a means to express creativity! My kiddos LOVE to paint and craft, but as a new teacher, I am lacking the supplies needed to provide these opportunities as often as I’d like. My students have a blast getting messy with Tempera paints, and find it just as exciting to use Kwik Stix as a neater, faster alternative to achieve the same kind of product. Watercolors are their favorite magical, mindful means of creating works of art. Construction paper serves as a perfect canvas for all of their projects, and glue sticks are the essential tool (also: hottest commodity in kindergarten!) that holds all of that creativity together. I am able to borrow some of these supplies from my colleagues, and I do so often; however, while I am grateful for their generosity, I never want their students to be without materials for their own projects.
Having art supplies of our own would allow for more meaningful, exciting, hands-on learning experiences for my students! Such opportunities would surely spark student interest and increase motivation to learn. In addition, these materials would allow me to provide my littles with a fun outlet for self-expression! Any contribution to this project would be SO appreciated by me and my kinders alike!
