We will be reading and studying the life and actions of John Lewis, and this learning will lead into a unit on Participate Civics. I hope that the story of John Lewis' life will inspire these students to become upstanders in their communities. His actions in the 1960s are relevant today to show us that young people can make a difference in our society.
We will be reading these graphic novels in class and analyzing how the efforts of young people contributed to the Civil Rights Movement for racial equality.
