Students will be broken into groups and given novels that they choose. Novel choice is key to a student's love of reading. Students want to see themselves in novels. Both of these novels offer different types of characters not seen in "normal" novels. Poet X not only does this, but it is also a novel in poetry. Students will get to experience poetry in a way they never have before. Many students find they like it. It is great to expose students to new ways to express themselves.
Students can really relate to the characters and love to read these books.
