My students are full of questions, wonder and a desire to learn and explore. As a first year teacher, I would like to be able to provide ample opportunities for them to succeed. My project is to fill our classroom library with books from all genres and various reading levels and to provide some flexible seating options for comfort to make the experience more enjoyable.
I have noticed my students stay on task more often when they have the ability to choose where they work. Some students work better on the floor or in different seating options and giving them this choice empowers them to be comfortable, have a say, and focus on their work.
During independent work they have the choice to move around and get comfortable which allows me to focus on my small group or individual student rather than constantly correcting antsy behaviors. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide to help these students thrive.
