Flexible seating will help my students learn in ways that best meet their social/emotional needs and their various learning styles. Often times, high school students are overlooked when it comes to flexible classrooms. This type of seating will encourage my students to move about the room and work collaboratively together. My students work together daily through discussions, analyzing texts, working on document based questions, debates, and in Socratic seminars. Having flexible seating available will encourage the students who need to move around during the class period to do so, all while staying on task. All 175 of my students will be able to benefit from flexible seating!
