The main goal for this project is to keep my students organized; we are requesting file and storage organizers so that students can leave their notebooks in class and thus ensure everyone is always prepared. Having these cabinets will also make our class routines smoother and save valuable learning time.
Staying organized is a critical part of the learning process. If students forget their backpack at home, if they leave their notebook on the bus, if it rains during practice and all their stuff gets wet, it will be challenging to engage in the lesson with focused note taking and a space to work on independent practice.
It is also critical to learn from our mistakes; thus, we will go over problems often and make corrections. Red pens will make this process more professional and give students a sense of authority as they correct their own papers. We also will do creative group work (requiring markers) weekly to give students the opportunity to learn from each other, practice mathematical literacy, and display their knowledge.
