Because many of my students have little exposure to books, I am requesting 24 copies of the chapter book, Nate, the Great and the Snowy Trail. My students love a good chapter book, and their favorite character is Nate, the Great. They enjoy reading independently and in small groups. I love to see the excitement on their faces when they can't wait to see what happens next. They enjoy discussing comprehension and inferring questions as they Think/Pair/Share.
The requested books will allow my students to be engaged in reading about a character that they really like! The books will allow students to continue their love of reading by using comprehension strategies such as predicting, inferring, writing to summarize, and discussing the plot with their peers. When young students love to read, they will become lifelong readers.
