This multiplication carpet will be the perfection addition to our classroom, as we continue the school-wide vision of building a community. This class rug will serve as a meeting place for students during our morning meetings, where we implement many lessons geared towards social-emotional learning. It will also serve as meeting place for classroom reading, conversation, and games. This rug will not only provide a space for communal gathering between students, but it would also serve as a great learning tool and reference throughout our day. For example, much of our math curriculum builds on our students' knowledge and fluency of multiplication and division facts. Knowing this, students will be able to see patterns in multiplication/division and actively use the carpet as they explore these patterns. A classroom rug will encourage a place to connect, discover and play.
