Every morning we start our day on the carpet with our morning message where we discuss the day's events. The students thoroughly enjoy this time on the carpet. They share stories about their weekends and have discussions with peers. Students learn new vocabulary, spelling words and daily oral language editing activities during our morning meeting.
Every afternoon we join together on the carpet again to enjoy a story and learn new phonics. Students love story time, in addition to listening to the story it gives them an opportunity to have discussions with their peers about stories. Students would benefit from having their own personal space on this new carpet during story time and phonics' work.
