I would like to be certified in a counseling modality called Managing Your Crazy Self.
Learning this concept will allow me to work and educate students, staff, and parents on how to manage their responses and reactions to daily life. As a Student Support Counselor I work with both students and staff to provide the mental health support they need. As people I am a firm believer that we must do the work within ourselves to do the work within in others. I help facilitate the work on self with staff. With the Managing Your Crazy Self certification I will be able to best support all stakeholders make better choices for themselves. Students will be taught healthy coping mechanisms to manage their emotions through one to one visits and small group meetings. By working with students individually we will create a personal tool box. This tool box of self help and self care tools can be implement into daily use. Students will learn which coping strategies work best with their personality. In addition, their is a social emotional curriculum that can be implemented through classroom lessons that both teachers and students will benefit from.
The staff and community will be supported by learning these skills in training and community meetings.
