I teach kindergarten through fifth grade special needs students who would benefit greatly from having a couch and colorful cushions. My students not only have specific learning disabilities, some also have sensory problems, and others have behavioral issues. Therefore, having the opportunity to walk into the resource room would be the perfect place for them to express their feelings.
These resources would spark an interest in learning for my students based on their individualized education plans.
Helping students feel that learning is fun and the emoji cushions will allow them to express their feelings without a problem, which is a perfect way to build better learners versus reluctant students.
