This school year, I have been really focusing on teaching informational text skills in class. We use a variety of resources to do this. I am looking to use the Scholastic Science World Magazine to include engaging real world articles into my instruction of not only science concepts but also informational text skills. In the real world outside of school, no matter what path a student takes, they will be asked to read informational text in some form. I want to be sure that my students are as prepared as possible to be successful in the real world. Adding more informational text resources to my classroom library will provide students with the practice and exposure that they need to be successful readers for the rest of their lives.
