Many of my students don't have access to technology at home outside of a smart phone. Many of our parents are unfamiliar with the requirements of drag and drop, and drop down boxes. Because the 3rd grade gate is computer based and uses a mouse, touch screen/thumb texting with smart phone technology is not helpful in the classroom for test preparation. These tablets will create a real time setting which has shown to provide the best results for our students. Skilled typing is an advantage because students have to type put a paragraph after planning and organizing it. Time is of the essence.
