Our classroom is full of 7 and 8 year old students who are eager to learn, but ready to move! Regular desk chairs are not always the most comfortable, and they do not offer students a chance to move and get their "wiggles out." Students often ask to stand up during a lesson or while working. This helps them to stay focused, but I wish they had more options!
Having the ability to wobble, or "bounce," while working promotes an active learning environment! These new seating options are developmentally appropriate for my students. Studies show that students who have the ability to move while learning are able to retain information and perform better.
