My students work in collaborative groups daily through rotation centers and are allowed to move freely around the room. My students generally choose to use lap tables and sit on the carpet or floor while working. This helps my students not become very fidgety and allows them to stay comfortable and focused while working. Learning does not mean being stuck in one chair all day. I plan on incorporating more flexible seating into my classroom to give my students more freedom to move around and be kids! Kids do not want to be stuck at a desk all day and research has proved that flexible seating is a fun and effective component of 21st century classrooms!
