I would like to begin using Ukuleles to enhance music instruction and help create life long musicians. The ukulele teaches skills that children can take with them as they leave my classroom. The Ukulele crosses the bridge between recorder instruments and beginning band/orchestra. Ukuleles will bring a sense of energy and happiness that is contagious.
Ukeleles round out the learning experience by giving the students aural, visual, and kinesthetic awareness of what is going on in the music room.
They truly love to be immersed in music. I want to give students in grades 3rd through 5th graders a new opportunity to learn an instrument that they may not otherwise get. With ukuleles students will learn the fine motor skills of playing a new instrument, while applying prior knowledge of note reading.
My students always love coming to music class, but they love it even more when they are actively engaged in making their own music. They love to play instruments!
