My school district has elected to offer students both in-person and virtual learning opportunities, so at this time I am collectively teaching 6 classes during the school day, while also providing new and different materials to my virtual students who do not have equitable access to me in person. Juggling both traditional and virtual learners in my classroom so far this year has been very difficult.
Gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers, two flexible seating chairs, and a small group set of a culturally appropriate novel will help me provide multiple learning opportunities for my students who are learning from home and those also in the classroom. Teachers Pay Teachers provides several digital lesson plans that I can use for in-class and virtual learners without having to completely recreate multiple lessons.
Also, I have several students who struggle sitting still throughout my 90 minute block class and they could benefit greatly from being able to move and use energy without disturbing other students around them! Having a diverse population in my classes can also make it difficult to find relatable novels or books for them to read. This novel would provide another small group book set that interested students could select.
