A color printer, ink and Teacher Pay Teacher Gift card for educational resources will allow us to print color lessons and buy resources that are specifically designed for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and other students with special needs. My students thrive on visual aids and use them to communicate, so a colored printer would give them ability to communicate in color.
Some of my students are unable to communicate appropriately verbally, but rather need pictures to tell others what they want, feel and need. Many of my students require pictures to communicate, learn, relate to real life, and to follow schedules. We teach them to follow a schedule for the day, to do a task, or tell us a story. This project will make a huge impact on my students' learning. My students are extremely visual learners and are drawn to bright colors.
As a third year Special Education teacher, I rely heavily on visuals and photographs to support my lessons through adaptions and modifications. Therefore, a color printer, extra ink and educational resources, are a vital step in accessing those supports. Having the ability to print in color can connect students with real content of instruction and is a great resource for any Special Education classroom. Please support me in creating these opportunities for my students. Thank you!
