My school district struggles with overcrowding and underfunding. Resources are difficult to come by and teachers are expected to purchase most of their supplies-even the most basic ones like paint, paper, and crayons.
As a first-year teacher working with an at-risk population of young children I need community support to ensure their learning needs are met. While I am more than happy to keep purchasing crayons, and making play dough, I need some help with the "bigger" items that will make a lasting impact. These include sensory items and privacy screens to help students who are emotionally dysregulated, as well as early math, literacy, and writing manipulatives and materials.
