The majority of my students are hands-on learners. There are a high number of dyslexic students, special education students, and students with ADHD. This owl pellet dissecting project is a perfect match for these types of students. Because they are economically disadvantaged, all the learning they get happens in the classroom. The ability to not only dissect an owl pellet while studying TEK 5.9B, but also reconstruct a skeleton from the pellet and take it home, will be a lifelong memory to these kids. Being able to wear lab goggles and write with sharpened pencils will help the kids take on the role of actual scientists.
