In today's elementary music room, creating a safe and engaging classroom is more important than ever before. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, for over a year my class has been virtual or 鈥渙n a cart鈥. My students are now able to enter the music room for the first time since lockdown, and it is critical that I have the tools for them to safely engage in music class. I am determined to make my classroom a safe haven for my students during these uncertain times, but my music classroom is missing key components to function at its full potential.
Consider helping the students transition back to the music classroom in a safe and engaging way.
Having new resources for my classroom would be a dream come true for my students and our school community. Providing new music technology to the classroom, such as the Edifier speaker will help us transition back into the school year in an engaging way. The Play-doh will be used during centers in various ways for students to respond to musical emotions by creating feelings through art and by also molding different musical symbols that they are studying. Every student is currently 100% back at school in-person, and we are spread out across the room to social distance. A new microphone will help the students hear me more clearly through my mask. Proper disinfecting materials will ensure that we stay safe between classes to ensure we do not spread the virus. The music room is a student-centered classroom. There is always a why behind the what. My responsibility is to provide my students with the best music education they can get, while keeping them safe. Thank you for considering helping the students of Dewey IS Elementary school!
