Kids need calculators to help with more complex math problems; their phones unfortunately make for a poor substitute as there are too many online resources that will just provide answers beyond calculations.
Calculators will allow kids to complete more complex math problems while also learning how to use different technology.
As the semester moves forward and algebra problems get more and more complex calculators become not only helpful, but a necessity for success in completing assignments.
Not a single student now has a calculator, and I have 8 that I have accumulated over time but that is not sufficient when I have classes of 40.
