Carpets are an essential part of a preschool classroom. They provide a safe, soft, welcoming, and warm place to gather, play, learn, and socialize. Carpets also create boundaries and serve as a physical reminder to help students stay in designated areas and promote concentration and learning. The squares on this carpet allows us to designate a space for each student. They take ownership of their square and learn that it is a special place for them to sit and learn.
This carpet will be used as a gathering place for whole group instruction and circle time. Our classroom carpet will also be used for music and movement time and will reduce slips and falls. The squares help students with spatial awareness when dancing and moving to music.
