All of us seek out others who share commonalities with ourselves. By adding these books to the classroom, my 6th graders will have the opportunity to learn about a diverse set of people, both real and fictional, who have succeeded in their chosen way.
With these book titles readily available to myself and my students, we can learn of a wider and more diverse world than the one traditionally taught in our textbooks, especially in the fields of math and science. These books will also offer inspiration as they continue to discover all the choices available to them as they continue to grow.
