STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. A curriculum that is STEM-based has real-life situations that help the student learn. The STEM bins and the construction toys will expose my students to STEM and give them opportunities to build background knowledge and team building. This STEM project will allow my students to use their imagination as they explore and discover math and science concepts while using hands-on materials like Legos and magnetic tiles, all while connecting it back to college and career-ready standards.
The items I have chosen will help me to encourage collaborative problem solving and introduces STEM projects at a level that will be just right for my students!
It is my hope that exposure to STEM activities at the elementary age will not only spark excitement for learning and challenge my students, but will cause my students to develop a passion for STEM and possibly pursue a career in it later in life.
My students will understand that math and science can be exciting and interesting. These STEM materials will benefit my students as they become excited about STEM and STEM-related careers.
