I recently attended a professional development by Jen Jones. She shared an idea of home reading bags. The majority of my class isn't completing nightly reading because there aren't books in their home. I would like to purchase leveled readers to start a nightly reading program where each student will receive a bag with two books one on their reading level and a picture book for a family member to share with them. This idea will really help to bring literacy into their homes. I am super excited to provide resources to the families of my classroom and extend literacy into the community.
