Having flexible seating will be able to promote focus, attention, and accommodations for students who need more room to learn. I will be using the podiums as a space in the classroom for students who need to move, wiggle, and have their own space that includes students with ADD and ADHD. I will be using the circle rug as space for students to sit during our social-emotional learning that includes mindfulness/meditation and intimate class discussion about topics such as kindness, humility, and class collaboration.
An open classroom that invites and welcomes differences and conversation are classrooms that can have a true impact. In order to invite and welcome differences of all learning modes, classrooms must-have items in the class to in fact help students truly feel supported. I always strive to help supports all learners and all students. In addition, I strive to create an environment where students feel safe and comfortable to share their opinions and engage in conversations about sensitive topics to truly collaborate and learn from one another.
