Playing drums is a great way to build community. Young children are interacting with one another and working in unison, trying to figure things out. Playing the drums in an ensemble takes a great deal of collaboration. Students can use drumming as a way to alleviate stress. For young children, laying drums can relieve frustration, disappointment, and stress. Playing drums, even for just a few minutes, can boost their mood and it also boosts brain power. When you play drums, you have to coordinate all four limbs to work together at the same time. Your brain has to work to strengthen and coordinate their rhythms. Playing the drums makes the brain think in a way that very few activities can. Being able to dissect how rhythms is a very complicated thought process. Additionally, drummers must possess a growth mindset. That is, you must believe that you can learn new challenges. We will conduct practices throughout the year and host performances for their peers and parents to be able to see their children display their newfound talents.
