This project will provide my students with the opportunity to listen to language being spoken to them during independent center activities. They will learn to create meaningful reading responses while collaborating with their peers in these reflections. I believe reading and writing are interconnected and together they enhance our learning and experiences.
Our classroom is a rich print environment. I believe students should be exposed to print in meaningful ways. My students experience language in daily routines such as, changing their names from home to school, choosing their daily commitments, classroom jobs, using the letter wall, writer's workshop and daily messages.
With this project, I would like for my students to fall further in love with reading. They love read alouds and during center time they revisit the books read. Also, I would like for them to be exposed to these same books and other stories while I work with small groups. That way my students will independently have a meaningful experience with literature as well.
