When my students walk into my current classroom they are met with tables and chairs. Chairs that do not work for all students. Four-year-olds are not wired to sit still in chairs to learn. They are wired to jump, move, and wiggle. With the help of new seating, my students will be able to wiggle and move while they learn.
I want my classroom to adapt to my students, not my students adapt to my classroom. I plan to lower tables and let kiddos sit on the floor to wiggle and learn at the same time. I plan to give students the opportunity to be in charge of their own seats and learning from an early age how they learn best.
This project would help my classroom be a place where all students can learn and grow no matter their background or where they come from.
