These ukuleles will expose my students to an accessible string instrument for students of varying dexterity levels. Most students will find success in the first session playing. I believe that student success leads to confidence and comfort with playing instruments. I plan to use these ukuleles to teach students chords, melodies, and popular songs! I hope that students will want to sing along with the songs that they learn. I believe that learning to play the ukulele may even inspire some students to write their own music! A set of ukuleles will help my music program come full circle. Currently, students are exposed to band (playing instruments) and some chorus (singing together in class). However, they are not exposed to string instruments at all! If my students were able to learn to play the ukulele, I believe that they would be able to show substantial growth as a musician and as a student overall. Additionally, they are inexpensive and students that show extra interest may be able to ask their parents to purchase one for them. Please consider helping me help my students learn about string instruments!
