My project will enable children with Autism engage in play with their peers by using a toy in a way that is accessible to them. It will encourage development by promoting social skills such as turn-taking, communication, and decision-making. These toys will be used to address Socio-Emotional development goals in the classroom. These goals may be mastered within the classroom setting but are transferrable to situations that occur in real life outside of the classroom.
Sensory toys help children with Autism relax, focus, and calm down. They also help to improve cognitive function, and, foster learning skills such as planning and sharing. Managing their anxieties maximizes opportunities for learning, thus building their confidence!
