The materials that we are hoping to receive will allow our students to both focus while attending to daily tasks within the classroom as well as give them sensory breaks when feeling over stimulated and/or overwhelmed by their daily interactions.
Flexible Seating options are an amazing asset to today's classroom, especially classrooms of students with different abilities. The wobble seats will allow the students to get the movement breaks that they need while remaining in their designated areas. The exercise balls will provide those same options as the wobble stools, but provide a more intense sensory input then the wobble stool. The peanuts will allow the students to lay down, stretch and relax in the sensory area of the classroom while listening to and looking at the light that we registered for that will help provide a calming atmosphere in the designated area. This is also where we will utilize the floor tiles if received; they will provide a padded floor in the sensory area so the students can remain safe while deescalating. And lastly, the scooters and trampoline that we are asking for will allow the students to remove themselves from the classroom with a staff member for a movement break outside of the typical classroom setting which is so important due to our limited access to the gym.
All of the products will enable our students, who all have different sensory needs, to gain access to tools to keep them focused on their daily tasks which will aid them in reaching their individual goals.
