Preschoolers often need a soft, quiet, and protected place where they can relax and have some space away from loud and busy areas in the classroom. Our classroom has an area where children can go and rest, while feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or simply need a space to calm down. I am requesting a privacy cube for our classroom. This privacy cube will help the children rest especially during drop off times or when there are overly noisy activities such as music and movement. This area will be easily accessible to give children freedom to have a soft surface, cuddly toys, some cushions, it includes a cozy rug, pictures and books. The students in my classroom will learn self-soothing skills, to help them cope with many different emotions. The privacy cube will also be positioned in the classroom so that all adults will be able to see the children. I will also speak to all of the children on how to use the area: with 1 to 2 children at most at a time, how to take care of the material, what it will be used for, and continually monitor and guide them. It is my hope that we are able to receive this item as a continued enhancement of our program.
