During small group instruction, we sit together on the rug because it is the most spacious area for the amount of students in our groups. Although this space is big enough for everyone, it is difficult for students to write and stay on task because they do not stay in their space. Being on the rug also impedes on the students learning because of the time taken to get clipboards ready to have a space to write on.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive to their peers when they are given their own spacious and comfortable area to work. The rug is not comfortable for us, therefore the products I have chosen is a bigger table that will fit all of our students and a pleasurable space for them to write. I have also chosen special seats for some of our students to get their wiggles out.
