Each day, students enter our school building from all kinds of backgrounds. Working with students with disabilities in 4th and 5th grade has proven to be so rewarding. This is the second year I am focusing on just reading. I work with students with a wide range of diagnoses including intellectual disabilities, Autism, specific learning disabilities in reading, and emotional disabilities. One of the few things we all have in common is the ability to get lost in the books we are reading. To forget that we are in a classroom, and plant ourselves in the middle of the story we are reading.
