Help my students develop a love for literacy with an engaging and meaningful story. With a class set of Hachiko Waits, our class will be able to share the wonderful, true story of a dog and his love for his human. This book was specifically chosen to help students review strategies that we have practiced all year as we prepare for the Georgia Milestones Assessment.
Literacy is fundamental, and I want to review third grade standards through interactive, modeled reading, and meaningful class discussion. Students will be encouraged to discuss the story throughout the book, which will allow them to develop a deeper understanding of characters, themes, settings, culture, and plot. I am thrilled to explore Hachiko Waits with my students. They will absolutely fall in love with the story as they enhance their reading skills.
